After a month with both, here is our honest take:

Choose Notion if you: Work in a team, manage projects, need databases, want an all-in-one workspace. The collaboration and database features alone justify the subscription.

Choose Obsidian if you: Think in graphs, write long-form research, value privacy, want to own your data, and do not need real-time collaboration. The local-first approach is liberating once you experience it.

Use both if possible: Notion for team projects and task tracking. Obsidian for deep thinking, research notes, and personal knowledge management. Many power users do exactly this.
